What issues in Philips TV are solved with a software upgrade?

Every software update solves different issues. A software update ensures that your TV is performing optimally in accordance with the latest technological developments.

To check if there is new software available for your TV, you have to check if the software version on the Philips support website is higher than the software version in your TV and update it if necessary.

Follow these procedures to check the current software version on your TV

  1. Press the [Home] button on the remote control to access the home menu
  2. Use the [Cursor buttons] to select [Setup] and press the [OK] button to confirm
  3. Press the cursor [Down] to select [Software update] and press the cursor [Right]
  4. Select [Current software info] and press the [OK] button to display the current software version on your TV set

Check software version

Check the software version against the latest TV software on the Philips support website. Refer to the SOFTWARE & DRIVERS section.

  • If the TV software version is lower than the version posted on the website means your TV set needs to be upgraded
  • Follow the instruction in the user manual or readme file of the firmware upgrade on how to upgrade your software

LC91AL1-1.15

  • The video image is extended beyond the boundary of the screen (overscan) when a video file is playback through USB
  • The power button on the side of the TV needs to be pressed several times before the TV set switch on

LC91AL1-1.12

  • The position and display size of the volume and mute icons has been changed to classic format (small display size)
  • The favourite list has been changed from 4 lists to 1 list of favourite channels (Only applicable to analogue TV)
  • SPDIF output audio from digital channel when the current view is analogue channel (Only applicable to digital TV)
  • The device name 'Blu-ray player' is translated incorrectly in the ADD NEW DEVICE menu

LC91AL1-1.11

  • Dolby digital (AC3) signal is not available through SPDIF out connection (Only applicable to digital TV)

LC91AL1-1.09

  • TV hang-up while performing software update to version 1.08 (Only applicable to non-Ambilight models)

LC91AL1-1.08

  • A line appears at the bottom of the screen in Unscale picture format when the TV is connected through HDMI with 1080i & 1080p video format
  • TV audio is not disabled when it is connected to the Home Theatre System, HTS9810, through HDMI connection with system audio control (TV Speakers) feature set to [Auto EasyLink] mode
  • 'Pong' noise is heard when Ambilight is turn on from Standby mode (Only applicable to Ambilight models)
