Why does my floor show stripes after using my Philips OneUp electric mop?

Published on 12 May 2026

Striping can occur because your Philips OneUp electric mop cleans more thoroughly than many traditional mops. It lifts and removes builtup dirt, grease, and residue that may have been left behind by previous cleaning products. When that hidden dirt is removed for the first time, it can temporarily make cleaning patterns more visible.

For better results, mop the floor from multiple directions instead of only straight lines (e.g., left to right, then front to back). This helps ensure all areas are evenly cleaned

For the first few uses, if striping occurs, we recommend using little to no detergent. Because your Philips OneUp electric mop is very effective at removing residue, too much detergent can leave product buildup on the floor, which may contribute to striping. Once your floor is fully clean and free of old detergent residue, you can resume using our recommended detergent with regular dosing. Press the dosing button only once for the correct amount of detergent. If you used too much, empty the tank, rinse it under the tap, and refill with clean water.

These steps should resolve most cleaning issues. For further help, refer to a Philips service center or contact us for further assistance.
