Your Philips Steam Generator Iron is not defective. It is equipped with a high steam output to produce powerful levels of steam, which helps achieve great ironing results and easy crease removal. However, this may cause condensation on the ironing board cover, making the board or your clothes slightly damp. After a long ironing session, the floor under the ironing board might also become a bit wet.
To reduce the steam rate, you can use the Eco mode if your iron has this feature. If steam has condensed on the ironing board cover after a long ironing session, consider replacing the cover if the foam material has worn out. Additionally, you can add an extra layer of felt material under the ironing board cover to prevent condensation. Felt can be purchased at a fabric shop.
