Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Philips smart steam iron safe for use on all garments?

Yes, it's completely safe and suitable for use on all ironable garments. No burns guaranteed on all types of fabrics from denim to silk.

What type of water should I use in my Philips smart steam iron?

Tap water is recommended. Follow these tips to keep your Philips smart steam iron working well.

Your Philips smart steam iron is designed to use tap water. If you live in an area with hard water, limescale may build up quickly.

If this is the case, why not try using distilled or demineralized water (50% demineralized water mixed with tap water can be used too).

Do not use perfumed water, water from the tumble dryer, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids, chemically descaled water or other chemicals. Not only are these unsafe but they may also cause water spitting, brown staining or damage to your steamer or iron.

To fragrance your clothes, instead try:

  • Add fragranced washing softener in your wash
  • Use essential oils (aromas) during washing
  • Spritz your garment with perfumed water after ironing or steaming

What is DynamiQ steam mode?

DynamiQ steam mode automatically releases the perfect amount of steam when its needed during ironing for faster results. The steam automatically starts when your iron is moving and stops when you don't move, for ultimate convenience and effortless ironing.

What is the Quick CALC release feature?

Over time, your steam iron build up the scale. Quick CALC is designed to de-scale your iron in less than 15 seconds. This easy solution for limescale keeps your smart steam iron running smoothly. Read about how it works here?

Thermal shock during heat up and steaming cause flaking of calc in the steaming area of the soleplate. Philips Azur Elite has a specially designed soleplate that allows the calc to flake away very easily and flaked calc are transported automatically to the removable container. The collected calc can be easily removed by emptying the container and also shaking the iron in less than 15 seconds for long lasting performance day after day. You can check how it works here.

What is SteamGlide Advanced soleplate?

SteamGlide Advanced is our best soleplate for ultimate gliding performance and maximum scratch resistance. Its stainless steel base is twice as hard as a regular aluminum base, and our patented 6-layer coating with advanced titanium layer glides effortlessly for the fastest results.
