Can I switch off the TV display and only listen to the sound in my Philips TV?

Published on 2016-12-29

Yes, you can. Use the [Screen off] feature which allows you to switch off the TV display while you are listening to a radio station or even watching TV, which will reduce the energy consumption.

To activate the [Screen off] mode, proceed as follow:

  1. While you watch TV, press the green button on the remote control to display the energy-efficient settings option.
  2. Select [Screen off] and press the [OK] button to confirm.
  3. The TV screen will switch off; only the sound is available from the TV.
  4. While the TV screen is muted, the TV's front indicator will flash.
  5. If you wish to exit the [Screen off] mode, press any keys on the remote control except the volume keys.

Alternatively, you may access the [Screen off] mode via the options Menu.

  1. While you watch TV, press the[Options] button on the remote control to access the options Menu.
  2. To select an option on the top Menu, press the[Back] button.
  3. Use the cursor buttons [Up][Down][Left][Right] to select [Eco settings] in the top Menu and press the [OK] button.
  4. Press the cursor [Down] to select [Screen off] and press the [OK] button to confirm.
  5. The TV screen will switch off; only the sound is available from the TV.

NOTE:

  • The [Screen off] feature will not work in Net TV. The [Screen off] feature will only work when you watch a TV channel or a connected device or play a file from USB
  • The green button may not work on certain digital TV channels that offer interactive services
